Tim Gulsrud founded the company in 2014, building on his more than 15 years of experience consulting on projects with a wide range of acoustical requirements. Tim spent the first part of his career at the renowned consulting firm Kirkegaard Associates, and so is part of a large community of acousticians tracing roots back to Bolt, Beranek, and Newman (BBN). From this “family tree of acoustics” comes an overall philosophy of careful listening to the musicians, audiences, and users of acoustically sensitive spaces. Our approach to consulting, both for investigations in existing facilities and new designs, is truly an artful blend of listening experience, scientific measurement, and real-world experience in building construction and facility operation. We strive to understand the unique needs of our clients and projects from many points of view, drawing from our experience not only as designer and consultant, but also from our experience as the musician on stage, recording engineer in the booth, and audience member in the seats.

 

Soundpost Recording (www.soundpostrecording.com) was founded by Tim as a sole proprietorship in 2003 to provide audio production services to music ensembles along the Colorado Front Range.  During the last 11 years we have steadily built up our client base and used company profits to acquire new equipment. Founded in 2014, Soundpost Acoustics, LLC is a new outgrowth of Soundpost Recording to focus on acoustics consulting while still offering audio production services.
